Challenge
QSL Serveis Culturals wants to strengthen the monitoring of the intercultural programs it develops throughout the territory. Despite having indicators and recording tools, these are lacking in terms of internal consistency, data systematization, and the explicit incorporation of an intercultural perspective.
The technical teams need:
– shared training on what a monitoring system is and how it differs from evaluation;
– an assessment of the current monitoring tools, to identify strengths, gaps, and challenges in terms of interculturality;
– a redesign of indicators and tools to improve QSL’s ability to analyze both the implementation of programs and its own internal functioning.
Response
Spora develops a three-phase process to strengthen the monitoring system for QSL’s intercultural programs. First, it prepares and delivers training sessions that provide teams with a shared framework on monitoring, its usefulness, and how to incorporate an intercultural perspective. It then conducts an assessment of existing tools and indicators, reviewing them from an intercultural perspective and comparing the results in a collaborative session with the teams, which culminates in a feedback document with conclusions and proposed improvements. Finally, it co-designs new data collection tools with the QSL teams and redefines or creates indicators that allow for more systematic and consistent monitoring, validating them jointly in a closing session.
