Challenge:
The Corbera del Llobregat City Council wants to start the process of developing the Local Health Plan with the aim of planning actions to make the municipality a healthier environment. In order to establish priorities in terms of local action, the development of a health diagnosis is being promoted that identifies the needs and assets of the municipality.
Starting from the perspective of the social determinants of health, the diagnosis must identify not only the data on the disease and health of the population, but also all those circumstances in which the people of the municipality live and which condition their health. This includes multiple factors that go beyond biological ones, such as economic, cultural, environmental or social factors.
Along these lines, in order to be able to design this type of interventions, it is essential to carefully delimit the needs of the population taking into account the diversity of the people who live in the municipality.
Answer:
To respond to this challenge, a diagnostic process has been carried out that combines qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Specifically, a documentary analysis, interviews and discussion groups with the population and key agents of the municipality have been carried out, as well as a health survey of citizens that provides representative data for the locality. The use and integration of these methodologies allows for exhaustive knowledge to be obtained on the different topics linked to health and its social determinants.
