Challenge
The North Zone of the Nou Barris district —formed by the neighborhoods of Ciutat Meridiana, Torre Baró and Vallbona— is in a situation of social vulnerability that is expressed with intensity in the area of interpersonal violence. This reality has been repeatedly pointed out by both social services and educational, community and institutional agents in the territory.
Within this framework, Barcelona City Council, through the Neighborhood Plan, has promoted a diagnostic process in order to understand in more depth the forms of violence that operate in the territory and the factors that sustain them, as well as to identify possible lines of action to be developed jointly with the agencies in the territory.
Answer
From Spora, a set of participatory dynamics are deployed with professionals who work daily in the North Zone. Within the framework of these dynamics, a report is created that provides a situated and nuanced reading of the multiple forms of violence present in the territory. Starting from the structural situations of social vulnerability and precariousness, the normalization of violence and the effects on neighborhoods, neighborhood communities, families and individuals.
The report also provides a set of proposals for intervention in the North Zone as well as a set of good practices from other territories.
