Challenge
The Cambrils City Council, through the Department of Social Welfare, has noted in recent years a clear trend towards the progressive ageing of its population, in line with the Catalan demographic reality. Given this context, the municipality had several services and resources aimed at the elderly – to promote autonomy, participation, active ageing and the prevention of unwanted loneliness, but it lacked a global vision that would allow for in-depth knowledge of the situation, assets and needs of the elderly in the municipality.
Answer
With the aim of having a solid basis for the future Cambrils Ageing Plan, Spora has carried out the Cambrils Ageing Diagnosis with the aim of analysing the social reality of older people and finding out their assessment of existing facilities, programmes and resources.
Based on a detailed analysis of key areas – such as housing, transport, public spaces, community participation or unwanted loneliness -, a complete portrait of the ageing situation in the municipality has been drawn up. The analysis has also allowed the municipality to identify both its strengths and areas for improvement, offering a solid basis to guide future local ageing policies.
